Contouring Made Easy With Illamasqua Hollow

After throwing myself headfirst into the vast world of beauty, I've discovered that the art of shaping and sculpting isn't reserved exclusively for professionals anymore. Now, at the comfort of your own home, you can easily reshape your face, carve out some cheekbones or slim down your nose - granted, you need the proper tools to do that. Kitchen utensils and tape aside, the real struggle comes in the form of the right contouring product. And, as a pale girl, I'm happy to say that I can finally call off the search for the perfect contour.

Illamasqua's Cream Pigment

is an effortless and virtually foolproof contouring product, ideal for newbies and fair-skinned people alike. Colour-wise, it's best described as a true taupe shade, lacking any dreaded ashiness or even the slightest hint of brown, making it perfect for mimicking the natural shadows on the face. Heavy-handed application is easily remedied with the help of a buffing brush or a BeautyBlender, as the creamy formula allows for endless blending to achieve the desired intensity. One swipe is enough for those who crave a natural shadow, but the product can be easily layered to achieve a full-on Kim K effect.

When it comes to application, I've found that it works best when applied with the Real Techniques Contour brush and then meshed into the skin with a damp BeautyBlender. To add some structure to my egg-shaped face, I apply a bit into the hollows of my cheeks, blend it up through the hairline up to my temples and take what's left on the brush beneath the jawline. While such method doesn't result in a dramatically transformative effect, it's enough to give me some shape on a day-to-day basis.

This product will fit the bill perfectly if you're a pale girl on a lookout for a more subtle (yet no less effective) alternative to the usual

tiger stripes.
