Moments in Louisiana
Over the last few years, Denmark has undeniably become my go-to travel destination. Having explored some of the smaller cities during my previous trips (see my little last year's Aalborg-Skagen-Aarhus mashup
), I felt that it was the right time to squeeze in a short city break to Copenhagen. As you can imagine, one weekend is simply not enough to fully enjoy everything that this incredible city has to offer, so, armed with my trusty TripAdvisor app, I came up with a pretty realistic list of places to see. First stop -
Situated just outside of Copenhagen, Louisiana instantly presents itself as a curious blend of nature, art and architecture; a serene place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. While the surrounding park is jam-packed with contemporary silhouettes and sculptures, the real magic happens once you're inside the museum. From the carefully curated shop to the numerous exhibitions showcasing the works of both local and foreign artists, Louisiana is a maze full of bizarre, beautiful and unexpected. Apart from the ever-changing selection of artworks, the interior is a stellar example of classic Scandi design, clean lines and all. On a clear day, you can take a breather, sink comfortably into the forest green sofa and see Sweden across the water.
Instead of rambling on and on about the amazingness of this place, I'll leave you with some of the countless shots I took while being there. If you decide to pay this place a visit, make sure you have at least half a day to thoroughly experience and enjoy it. And lastly, pay attention to the signs as the breathtaking Yayoi Kusama installation is fairly easy to miss.
